Topic of presentation: Nutrition As Key To Unlock Health
Nutrition and Food authentication is of interest for large number of individuals and organizations including the scientific community, law enforcement, food producers, importers and exporters, and the consumers. Food authentication is an analytical process that validates label information about the food origin and production process. It is a rapidly growing field due to increasing public awareness concerning nutrition, food quality and safety. Authentication of food products involves procedures capable of verifying that the product matches the label statements and that it conforms to the provisions of applicable laws and regulations. The ability to trace and authenticate food products is of the outermost importance for the food industry, not only for economical but also for safety reasons. In order to protect consumer interests and public health, in addition to combating the growing problems of food fraud and adulteration, scientific expertise and technologies are constantly being developed and advanced to test the authenticity of different food products. I am going to discuss on the importance of nutrution in food authentication and related research trends with the emphasis on recent research in this area.

Dr. K. Karthikeyan received his Ph.D. degree from Bharathidasan University, Trichy. At present, he is working as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Food Science and Nutrition, Periyar University, Salem, Tamil Nadu. He has 06 years of teaching During his career and studies, he has published 03 books, 01 book chapters, 20 international paper-reviewed research articles, 4 national peer-reviewed articles in various journals published by different organization in various disciplines of Food Science and biochemistry with overall citations of 920. serving as an editor for 03 international journals, editorial board member for 2 international journals and reviewer for more than 30 journals published by different professional bodies. He visited south korea for his post doctoral studies and he visited japan for invited presentation in the international conference “Asian congress of nutrition” He has served as a technical committee member for various international and national conferences, chaired around 3 national conferences and delivered key lectures in numerous national and international level conferences, seminars and symposium. His area of research interest lies on Nutrigenomics and food chemistry.
